Mining

Mineral titles, regulatory compliance, community agreements, financing and disputes for mining and quarrying businesses.

Overview

Solid minerals are a growing part of Nigeria’s economy, and the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act 2007 sets the rules for exploring and mining them. We advise operators, investors and communities.

We advise on applications for reconnaissance permits, exploration licences, small-scale mining leases, mining leases and quarry leases through the Mining Cadastre Office, and on the transfer of titles, environmental obligations and royalties.

We also negotiate community development agreements, advise on joint ventures and financing for mining projects, and act in title and community disputes.
