Regulatory

Compliance

Regulatory compliance programmes, anti-money laundering obligations, corporate filings and investigations for businesses and public bodies.

Overview

Regulatory obligations in Nigeria come from many agencies at once. We help organisations understand which rules apply to them, put proportionate controls in place and respond when a regulator asks questions.

We advise on the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022 and the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022, including customer due diligence and registration with the Special Control Unit against Money Laundering for designated businesses. We also advise on beneficial ownership disclosure under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020, sector licences and corporate governance codes.

Our work includes compliance reviews, policies and training, responses to regulatory inquiries and representation in enforcement proceedings. We have advised and represented clients before courts and tribunals, including the Supreme Court of Nigeria, on compliance questions.
