Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 October 2026

This policy explains how Aliyu and Musa Legal Practitioners (“we”, “us”) collects and uses personal data through this website, and the rights you have under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA). It does not cover personal data we process when acting for clients, which is governed by our engagement terms and professional obligations.

Who we are

We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website. You can contact us about this policy or your data at info@aandmlegals.com, by telephone on +234 7071419474, or by post at No 4 Alex Ekwueme Way, Abuja.

What we collect

  • Enquiries and consultation requests: your name, email address, telephone number, company (if given), the practice area or lawyer you are asking about, your preferred contact method and date, your message, any documents you attach (up to three), and the page you sent the form from.
  • Call-back requests: your name, telephone number, the best time to call and, if you give it, what your call is about.
  • Job and internship applications: your name, email address, telephone number, cover letter, CV and the role you applied for.
  • Newsletter: your email address and the dates you confirmed your subscription or unsubscribed.
  • Technical data: a one-way (hashed) form of your IP address, stored with form submissions to prevent spam and abuse, and the server logs our hosting provider keeps for security.

Please do not send confidential details of a legal matter through the website until we have confirmed that we can act for you. Unless you tell us otherwise, we may need to check your enquiry against our records for conflicts of interest.

Why we use it and our lawful basis

  • To respond to your enquiry or call you back and arrange a consultation: your consent, given on the form, and steps you ask us to take before entering into an engagement.
  • To consider your application for a role: your consent, given on the form.
  • To send our newsletter: your consent, confirmed by the link we email you. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
  • To keep the website and our systems secure and to prevent spam: our legitimate interests.
  • To comply with the law, including professional rules and anti-money laundering obligations: legal obligation.

Cookies

This website uses only the cookies it needs to work: a session cookie and a security cookie that protects forms against cross-site request forgery. We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. If we switch on Cloudflare Turnstile, a security check that helps us block automated spam on our forms, Cloudflare processes technical information about your browser and device for that purpose only. If you use the WhatsApp or social media links, those services apply their own privacy policies.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the website and our email, acting on our instructions under data processing terms, and with regulators, courts or law enforcement agencies where the law requires us to.

Some of these providers may store data outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we transfer data only as the NDPA permits, for example where the recipient country provides an adequate level of protection or appropriate contractual safeguards are in place.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries, call-back requests and applications: up to 12 months from receipt, unless the enquiry leads to an engagement (in which case the client file is kept for the period our professional obligations require) or you ask us to keep your application for future roles.
  • Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, after which we keep only a record that you unsubscribed.

Your rights

Under the NDPA you have the right to be informed about how your data is used, to access it, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw your consent at any time (without affecting processing before you withdrew it). To exercise any of these rights, email info@aandmlegals.com. We will respond within the time the law allows.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Security

The website uses encrypted connections. Documents you upload are stored in private storage that is not publicly accessible, and only authorised staff can open them. No system is completely secure, so please consider what you send before submitting it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
